UPDATE: U.S. Tax Filing Deadline Moved from April 15 to July 15

In an update to yesterday’s e-alert, the IRS has extended the tax filing deadline to July 15, 2020. Per Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, the extension will give “all taxpayers and businesses … additional time to file and make payments without interest or penalties.” As we mentioned yesterday, the payment deadline had already been extended to July 15 for most taxpayers.

If you are expecting a refund, you are still encouraged to file your return now in order to receive your money.

We will continue to monitor this (and all other) developments that impact our clients and colleagues.
