Kristen Nugent is Counsel in MendenFreiman’s business law and tax planning practice areas. She provides legal counsel to small and medium-sized businesses on a variety of corporate and transactional matters, including general corporate counsel representation, entity structuring and corporate governance, entertainment law matters, intellectual property and other licensing agreements and employment law and policy. As a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US), she guides clients through rapidly evolving issues of federal and state privacy law, particularly with respect to commercial contracting, SaaS agreements, and regulatory compliance.
Kristen also has extensive experience with employee benefit plans, including plan compliance and corrections, mergers and acquisitions, nonprofit organizations, taxable and tax-exempt financing structures (including lease-purchase agreements, credit-enhanced transactions, and public/private partnerships) and international corporate and tax law issues. Throughout her career, she has managed ongoing legal, tax, and regulatory compliance for a Fortune 500 company’s four 401(k) savings plans and 18 pension plans in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, and guided Atlanta-based clients through opportunities created by economic stimulus legislation.
Prior to joining MendenFreiman, Kristen served as in-house counsel with a Georgia corporation and was an associate with Hunton & Williams LLP and King & Spalding, LLP.
